Job Description
About the role

An important member of the central SEO Team, we’ll look to you to optimise the content of our websites and seasonal landing pages – making sure everything is on-brand, coded correctly and effective in delivering high-ranking search returns.

That means skilfully producing everything from the on-page body copy and meta data, to titles and internal linking, amending as necessary in line with marketing requirements.

It also means working closely with teams from across the business to make sure they’re following SEO best practice when writing or adding copy.

This isn’t just about providing information, it’s about delivering content that will drive traffic to our site. So with this in mind, you’ll research new areas to embed content on our sites and look for ways to improve our performance; helping to shape an area of growing importance to us.

Skills & Achievements
About you

We’re after someone with excellent copywriting and editing skills, backed up by a real understanding of HTML, search engine optimisation and all the relevant technologies.

It goes without saying that you’ll come from a background in e-commerce, and you’ll certainly have delivered search engine campaigns before.

But just as important are your impeccable organisation skills, your attention to detail and your first-rate communication skills. And, of course, your ability to make the very most of SEO.

About us

With companies ranging from Littlewoods, Kays and Very, through to Marshall Ward and Woolworths.co.uk, as well as some 400 own and international brands such as Nike, Diesel, Miss Sixty, Dyson, Bosch and Sony, Shop Direct has something for everyone.

We have our own financial services business and, with a turnover of £1.6 billion and 5 million customers, we’re the largest home shopping and online retailer in the UK.

Some 56% of our products are now sold online – and we’re on track to hit our target of 80% by 2010/2011. In fact, we want to become the home of online retail. And you could help us get there.
